The Mount Carmel Cemetery is one of the few black cemeteries in Pasco County. This cemetery was founded in the 1800’s and was built in connection with Mount Carmel Church. Many of the citizens buried there had worked in the local sawmill.

June 7, 2011: The Pasco County Commission will issue a Juneteenth Proclamation (resolution). Cemetery Cleanup efforts on June 18 is part of the Juneteenth 2011 recognition events.
June 20, 2009: The dedication of Mt. Carmel African-America Black Cemetery is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009. The ceremony will be held at the Cemetery on Ehren Cutoff (CR 583). The cemetery is located on the north (or west) side of Ehren Cutoff and is about 3 to 4 miles from both US 41 or SR 52 (approximately half way from either.
June 9, 2009: The Pasco County Commission will approve a resolution recognizing the various groups who were involved in the clean-up of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
